October Hair Care Favourites

I can only thank my mother for giving me thick, coarse hair. In actual fact, my hair was never a problem until I bleached it roughly this time last year. And thereafter, being the silly person I am, I never took care of it correctly to prevent major damage. True, it does need a trim at the moment, but failing that my hair has been a real brat lately. Split ends, brittle feel, knots & all round feeling of dryness.

SO I decided to do something about it. And it worked. Quite brilliantly if I might add. THese are my October favourites in hair care.

Schwartzkopt Liquid Silk Gloss - Intensive Shine Gloss



Honestly, the name is a bit of a giggle. But it truly holds it's own considering I bought this in sale rack of a supermarket. I scoop it onto the bottom part of my hair after washing & conditioning and leave in for 1-2 minutes. I was a little skeptical as the package says it will only take 1 minute to work, but you really dont need much longer. And it has the prettiest Rose scent

John Frienda 'Frizz Ease' collection - Shampoo & Conditioner



Oh, did I mention my hair was frizzy too?! This pair works best for 'extra dry hair'. The shampoo is really lathering and you dont need a lot to work up your whole head. Which is a big thing to say and almost everyone says that about Shampoos they like, but this time I mean it! And the conditoner does everything a conditioner should do. Makes your hair feel slimy smooth and takes a good couple of rinses to get out - but boy does it work. And the best part? It actually makes your hair LESS frizzy but doesn't pour a whole lot of moisture into your roots! Hurrah

Toni & Guy Dry Shampoo & Heat Protection Spray



These two are my saviours. After truly believing that Batista dry shampoo was my only option & dealing with the induced grey hair & dandruff it brought on, I was brought back down to eath after trying Toni & Guy dry shampoo. NO grey hair, NO build up & it does NOT dry out your scalp! It's quite a cold, almost wet feeling spray, but it makes your hair look like the day 2 of your hair wash regime, which is the best day of all.
The Heat Protection spay is my baby. It has a lovely scent about it & works better than any other I have tried. Overall I have decided not to be shocked that Toni & Guy is being stocked in my local supermarket & decided to embrace the wonderful products they have on offer

And onto my October disappointment:

Nourishing Coconut Conditioner



EHHHHH wrong! There is nothing nourishing NOR conditioning about this product! And worst of all? It doesn't even make your hair smell like coconut! It makes your hair produce that horrible squealing sound when you run your hands through it when it's still wet and everything. What kind of CONDITIONER doesn't condition?! Worst. Fail. AVOID!

How much can you tell of someone just by looking at their bedside stand?

Lip glosses of the week

Who would have thougt that I, queen of matte lipsticks, would be wearing...lipgloss?! And on a daily basis! To be completely honest & shallow, I have been sporting black eyeliner and ruby glossy lips all week, which may or may not have been influenced by Blair Warldorf.

Anyways, confessions aside, these two lipglosses have been paired on my lips quite nicely this week!

Earlier this week I had the joy of picking up a copy of Beauty & the Beast on DVD (I definitely just typed 'breast' instead). At just $20, my innter child was almost a little offended. My original copy on VHS still has the price tag on it, tattered now but still revealing a more daring purchase than the $20 you found in your back pocket.

Nevertheless, one of my childhood films is out of the vault and was soon slotted into my DVD player. I watched the first half on Wednesday, and now I find myself with some spare time & a box of noodles for my lunch eaten at dinner time, I watched the rest.

It's amazing, to say the least, how strong childhood feelings are. And not the tightening in your chest when you see the opening credits, or the lump in your throat when you hear that old music again, but how powerful a child's feelings can be. Because those emotions were not with me for the first time. They were the deep set, buried away for years emotions that I felt when I was small.

Of course, I found myself blubbering at the end, even knowing full well the ending is happily ever after. It just goes to show that no matter how many times you hid the lump in your throat when you were little, too ashamed to cry - watch the same motion picture when you're 22 years old & those tears will free fall.

I, like so many others, have found myself in the most unfortunate role as a customer service representative. To you this means the person on the other end of the phone, answering your generic questions & giving you hearty discounts that you probably won't appreciate (not to generalise). To me, this means sitting at the one desk, with the same people, saying the same things, at the same time - every single week. And the one after, and the one after....

Given that I take little to no pride in my work (sorry, I only pretended to care), I do take pride in my surroundings. After all, I spend more waking hours at my desk than I do quality time with my fiance (or cats). So, naturally, I have a makeup corner. Or shall we call it a vanity corner. A small space on my shelf at work filled with lipstick, emergency pressed powder, Paw Paw ointment, handcream and perfume. Most of what is there stays there. I have my "work pink" lipstick, my many "work nude" lipsticks and so on.

I have recently had a total of 12 days off work given that I have recently had surgery. Today was my first day back (albeit short lived, I crawled home sick after a feeble 53 minutes on the job), and was presented with this:



Although I do not LOVE this lipstick, in fact there have been times that I questioned my purchase, I still do not appreciate dragging my feet over to my desk only to find this waiting for me! It was done by one of my dearest work colleagues and if I didn't love him to death I'd probably be angry.

Thought I ought to share.

After my exceedingly long hiatus, in which I dabbled in Tumblr & forgot all about Blogger (forgive me), I am back, up & running & will be posting all sorts of mug shot, make up frenzied, vanity inspired posts!

When I was 11 years old, my Mum drove me to my first sleep over.
In the car on the way she told me that if I wanted to come home during the night all I had to do was call her.
That she'd drive back and pick me up.

I lasted the night, but I cried myself to sleep.

Tonight, ten years later, I told my Mum that on Sunday I will be moving out.
As I cried she hugged me and told me that if I didn't like it, I could come home.
All I had to do was tell her and she'd come get me.

Tonight, I'll cry myself to sleep.

It's pay day.

Engagement ramblings !

Sorry in advance to those who vomit at my gushing!

As mentioned in my last post, I got engaged on Saturday ^.^
Not going to go into huge detail of how it went down, but it was beautiful, I cried like a baby & I can't stop thinking about it.

Right now I have a Claddagh ring as the engagement. It's a beautiful traditional
Irish ring, but it's on my ring finger until we get a diamond ring.



We're in the process of attempting to pre-organise an engagement party. The date we've set for the time beinf (and hope to stick to) is 28/08/2010 which is only about a week after Terry's 22nd birthday! So it's going to be a tricky time to get everything sorted!

In terms of a diamond, I have a veeerrry clear image of what I want (p[oor Terry) and I really wont settle for anything less than what I want. Fair? Sounds bossy but can you imagine having an engagement ring that you weren't happy with ?! Terry 100% understands this and I'm going to get him a matching Claddagh ring because he's always one!

Firstly, I want white gold. Secondly, single Princess cut diamond without obvious claws. Thirdly, a thin band that isn't prominent at all, but not too thin so it makes the ring look top heavy.

But nothing like that all at the same time!

Our venue for the engagement is a complete mystery at this point. A friend of mine had her 21st at a really dweet venue at the start of last month & if they accept outside catering and the price is within our budget then we'll go for it. We want a mix of "normal" hot finger food, along with sushi platters. We've already priced the Sushi and it nonly comes to a few hundred dollars, which is pretty cheap when you're getting over 500 Sushi peices !

I am officially engaged. :)!!

I have officially been busy the last few weeks which explains my absence. Between new car, new house and a brand new kitten (along with 11am-7pm shifts) I have just been running out of time.

But! My new kitten is the subject of this post.

Currently nine weeks old & the most mild mannered creature I have ever come across. She is literally the apple of my eye !
